Explore the alleys and enjoy the daily life
of this one of a kind hill town!

Flowers, geometries and eclecticism: here are the main ingredients of the beauty of Canicattini Bagni. An open-air museum where most of the façades are carved in the finest Liberty style.

When you think to Liberty or Art Nuveau your mind goes to Paris, to the Expo of 1900. Actually, it’s the same period, but the place is unexpected!

Moreover, no popular artists and architects were involved, but only local stonemasons.
The way they became able to develop such a characteristic style is a story in itself. And it deserves to be told in detail on site because it’s the story of  a vision made real by genuine commitment.

Wherever you look, the façades are small masterpieces showing a number of elements beautifully intertwined and matched in order to create the perfect symmetry. The most part of the keystones at the top of the doors are female faces emerging from leaves and branches. And wait to see the wrought iron railings of the balconies!

You will have to have a relaxing walk in the centre of a small town. The picturesque piazza is the spot where the locals use to meet day and night. Here is the beautiful “matrici” (the main church), built at the end of the 1800.
The bright colors, the sounds and the atmosphere are the perfect frame to the Liberty architecture, and they give to Canicattini Bagni that special something that makes it a real gem of the inland.
